Students and interns in the spotlight at the annual symposium of the Montreal Immunology Meeting

Students and interns from the Centre de recherche de l'Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont  (CRHMR) distinguished themselves during the 2020 edition of the annual meeting of Immunology Montreal (MIM) symposium, which was held virtually on November 16. In fact, two students and a postdoctoral fellow collected prizes at the event.

 

Each year, the MIM organizes, among other things, a symposium on a theme of immunology. This year the symposium was held virtually and featured immunology in Montreal.

 

Among the 12 speakers selected for the occasion, four of them are continuing their studies and internships with the CRHMR.

 

Livia Odagiu, doctoral student under the supervision of Dr. Nathalie Labrecque

  • Subject of his presentation: NR4A3 is an early regulator of CD8 T Cell function, memory generation and anti-tumor immunity

 

Dave De Sousa, doctoral student under the supervision of Dr. Nathalie Labrecque

  • Subject of his presentation: The notch signaling pathway controls the differentiation of exhausted CD8 T Cells during chronic infection

 

Valérie Janelle, postdoctoral fellow under the supervision of Dr Jean-Sébastien Delisle

  • Subject of his presentation: Caspase-8 regulated senescence as an immune checkpoint in T lymphocytes for adoptive Cell therapy

 

Stefanie Valbon, a new doctoral student under the supervision of Dr. Heather Melichar, presented her master's work which she completed at McGill University under the supervision of Dr. Martin Richer.

  • Subject of his presentation: Chronic viral infection impacts cell fate decisions in the thymus

 

During this symposium, three candidates particularly stood out among the jury and received a prize.

 

Prize for the best presentation

  • Dave De Sousa, doctoral student under the supervision of Dr. Nathalie Labrecque
  • Valérie Janelle, postdoctoral fellow under the supervision of Dr Jean-Sébastien Delisle

 

Public Prize

  • Stefanie Valbon, a new doctoral student under the supervision of Dr. Heather Melichar, presented her master's work which she completed at McGill University under the supervision of Dr. Martin Richer.
