Clinical research

The clinical research sector has nearly 200 clinician researchers and 100 professionals who work on over 30 research teams. Every year, approximately 700 clinical trials and 150 new trials are conducted by clinician researchers or in partnership with biopharmaceutical companies.

The clinical research sector has three main areas: clinical trials; translational research, including tissue banks and registries; and evaluative research, technological development and educational research.

Les essais cliniques visent à évaluer les effets de médicaments (nouveaux ou existants), de traitements biologiques ou de dispositifs médicaux susceptibles d’améliorer une condition pathologique chez l’humain. Cette thématique de recherche est abordée dans de nombreuses spécialités médicales dont la cardiologie, la chirurgie, la microbiologie, l'anesthésie, la neurologie, la rhumatologie, la gastroentérologie, la radio-oncologie, la gynécologie, la pédiatrie, les soins intensifs et l'orthopédie.
