Dr. Sandra Cohen is a highly effective clinician researcher and associate professor who is involved in many clinical protocols in hematology/bone marrow transplantation. She has received a number of research grants in the area of cord blood stem cell expansion, including from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Canadian Cancer Society Research Institute (CCSRI), and the Stem Cell Network (SCN). She is regularly invited to speak or give oral presentations at scientific conferences.

Research Unit

Dr. Sandra Cohen’s main focus is on cord blood transplantation and specifically on UM171-expanded cord blood to make stem cell transplantation safer and therefore more effective. Her interests also include research on lymphoproliferative syndromes and the reduction of post-transplant infections.
