Dr. Fortin is a radiation oncologist at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont who specializes in head, neck, lung and thyroid cancers. He holds a master's in epidemiology and specializes in evaluative research and medical statistics training.

Research Unit

With his clinical research unit, he participates in various mucositis prevention protocols for head and neck cancers, altered fractionation protocols in lung cancer, research on the addition of immunotherapy to localized non-small cell lung cancer, research on the addition of immunotherapy to chemoradiotherapy in small cell lung cancer, and comparative research on the efficacy of radiation therapy for Graves’ orbitopathy.

With residents from various specialties (radiation oncology, oncology, respirology, dermatology), he teaches medical statistics and provides statistical consultation services for evaluative research projects carried out by residents and his colleagues.

Projects in 2020:

  • Evaluation of the efficacy of different adjuvant modalities for advanced endometrial cancers, with Valérie Dorion, radiation oncology resident at UdeM.
  • Prognostic factors for survival in patients with bullous pemphigoid, with Marco Cuarana and Patrick Cyr, medical students at UdeM, and Dr. Chantal Bolduc, a dermatologist at the CHUM.

Predictors of survival in patients with head and neck cancer and indeterminate lung nodules, with Vincent Côté-Provencher, a resident in radiation oncology at UdeM, and Dr. Houda Bahig, a radiation oncologist at the CHUM.

Statistical assistance for Dr. Michael Yassa, a radiation oncologist at the HMR for a Phase II protocol with the MUHC and JGH on radical radiation therapy with delayed or excluded surgery in localized breast cancer.
