With a PhD in molecular biology, Éric Milot oversees the Malignant Hematopoiesis and Epigenetic Regulation of Gene Expression Research Unit. Éric Milot is also a full professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at Université de Montréal.

His research focuses on malignant hematopoiesis and the epigenetic regulation of gene expression. Éric Milot also contributes to the advancement of research as a member of several scientific review committees for various agencies, including the CIHR, FRQS and NSERC. He is a member of the genetics section of the CIHR’s College of Reviewers.

Research Unit

Malignant Hematopoiesis and Epigenetic Regulation of Gene Expression

This research unit studies the mechanisms of epigenetic regulation of gene expression during hematopoiesis:

  • Identification of the molecular factors and mechanisms involved in epigenetic programming and regulation of gene expression.
  • The team uses genetically modified mice, embryonic stem cells and human hematopoietic cells in their research.
  • Another focus is the characterization of factors that promote leukemia development. In this area, the team is studying how certain factors influence cell proliferation regulation pathways and cell death.
