Research interests

We wish to develop and evaluate the effects of hypnosis intervention programs on acute and chronic pain using interventional research methodologies. The development phases are evaluated by mixed methods research, and the effects by clinical trials. Concretely, our work focuses on:

  • Studies on a self-hypnosis group intervention program for patients with chronic pain (FRQ funding)
  • Studies on a program combining music and hypnosis to improve the quality of life of palliative care patients at home (Chaire Blanchard funding)
  • Study of a Virtual Reality Hypnosis intervention in the management of pain and anxiety in patients with multiple myeloma during stem cell transplantation (FRQS funding)

These studies will evaluate the effectiveness of medical hypnosis in improving pain management in different clinical settings. They are conducted in different clinics and care settings, which require distinctive adaptations. They will provide data on the adaptability and effectiveness of hypnosis in various clinical settings, to consider subsequent implementation studies.
