Originally from Switzerland, Thomas Kiss decided to contribute his skills and knowledge to the Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont’s Transplant Program after completing his basic research training at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research in Toronto, finishing his hematology and internal medicine training in Hamilton, Ontario, and working at the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto as a clinical fellow and then as a transplant hematologist. A clinical researcher and associate clinical professor, his professional activities regularly lead him to give lectures and presentations in the United States and Europe. He is a founding member of the Canadian Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH) Network.

Research Unit

Dr. Kiss’s main areas of interest are allogeneic transplantation, acute leukemia and paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH), an extremely rare red blood cell disease. His research projects aim to improve transplantation in older patients and reduce post-transplant complications, such as thrombotic microangiopathy. He is also helping to develop algorithms and explore treatment options for PNH to improve patients’ overall survival rates and quality of life.
